Ingolf Baumann is the founder and CEO of Advanced Optics Solutions GmbH, Germany. He established his company in 1998 as a licensed manufacturer for Bragg gratings and related components. Today, the company mainly focuses on components for telecommunications and solutions for optical sensing.
Before he founded his business, Baumann had worked as a researcher in the photonics group of the Dresden University of Technology since 1991. His research was mainly devoted to optical fibers, Bragg grating technology, and optical sensing. He earned his PhD degree in 2001 from the electrical engineering’s faculty of Dresden University of Technology, with a dissertation titled “Design and realization of fiber-optic Add Drop Multiplexers based on Bragg gratings and fused couplers.” He is the author and co-author of more than 20 relevant national and international publications in journals and conference proceedings, and he holds a couple of patents.
