Antonio Quintela received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Cantabria (Spain), in 2006. Since 2011, he holds a position as Associate Professor (Profesor Titular de Universidad) at the Photonics Engineering Group (GIF) within the Department of Electronic Technology, Industrial Automation and System Engineering at the University of Cantabria, with both teaching and R&D duties.
Main research area is writing of Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBG), Long Period Grating (LPG), micromachining optical fiber and fabrication of optical transducers based in these devices.
His scientific contributions include 19 papers in peer-review JCR journals, 95 works presented at peer-reviewed conferences and 3 patent applications.
He has been enrolled in 17 research projects funded by the European Union, Spanish and Local Government, including 24 research contracts with local and national private companies.
