ISLiST/UIMP Invited Speakers Recognized by Prestigious International Organizations

  Aydogan Ozcan Awarded 2015 ICO Prize
ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 11, 2015 — Aydogan Ozcan has been awarded the 2015 ICO Prize by the International Commission for Optics for his contributions to biophotonics.
The award lauds Ozcan's work on computational microscopy and digital holography for telemedicine and global health applications. He is a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles.
The ICO Prize is given annually to an individual who has made a noteworthy contribution to optics and is published before he or she has reached the age of 40.

  Philip Russell Receives several Honors
MADRID, Oct. 2105- Philip Russell, has been named Doctor Honoris Causa at the Menendez Pelayo International University, Spain, for his contributions to the sciences and technologies of light. He will receive this distinction during the first e of the International School on Light Sciences and Technologies to be held at Menéndez Pelayo International University in June 23, 2016 in Santander, Spain. 
Russell, 2015 OSA President was also honored with 2015 IEEE Photonics Award for his pioneering contributions to the conception and realization of photonic-crystal fibers.

  Vasilis Ntziachristos receives the 2015 Gold Medal Award of the World Molecular Imaging Society
Prof. Vasilis Ntziachristos has been awarded with the 2015 Gold Medal Award of the World Molecular Imaging Society (WMIS). He received this prestigious distinction for his pioneering work in the field of optical molecular imaging, providing solutions for deep tissue imaging, advancing quantitative and biologically specific interrogation of living systems, and for advancing the applications of these agents to in vivo diagnosis in humans.

The International School on Light Sciences and Technologies (ISLiST) to be held at Menéndez Pelayo International University is expected to become an annual event, every fourth week of June. The International School in 2016 will focus on light in the life sciences and health.
