Abstract: | This paper presents the analysis and design of a new configuration of a resonant inverter suitable for driving high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps. The proposed inverter is the result of the parallel connection of two class D LCp resonant inverters. The dimming control of the power supplied to the lamp is implemented at constant frequency. At full power operation, the inverter guarantees that the power applied to the lamp is within the recommended operation area regardless of the lamp aging. The design sequence also considers the tolerance of circuit components in order to achieve good design repeatability. The proposed design is validated with experimental results and a statistical simulation by the Monte Carlo method. |
